WV CARES is a program that conducts criminal and registry checks for employees who have direct access to patients in West Virginia. Learn how to use the internet-based system, what facilities and providers are required to participate, and how to request a variance.

All long-term care facilities and providers licensed by the West Virginia Department of Human Services are required to conduct employee background checks. Click here to view the WV CARES website.
